Culturescape is exploring ways that web and mobile technology can enable the public to access cultural activities and information. In particular, our mobile content is designed to be accessed by as many people as possible. It is not 'app' based and not dependant on any one particular brand of device or system. It is designed to be mobile ready and accessed from any platform that can connect to the internet.
Culturescape offers a full design and hosting service for mobile friendly content and implementing QR codes and their related content. Visit here to find out more about our services and our do's and dont's.

Culturescape worked with North Tyneside Council to pilot the use of QR codes and mobile ready content for a new event. Shimmer was a spectacular site specific outdoor projection event that took place at the Whitley Bay seafront on Nov 5th/6th 2011. The highlight was the re-staging of Diversión - a piece commissioned by North Tyneside Council to celebrate the centenary of this iconic building.
Culturescape formatted mobile friendly content for the event, setting up an event homepage as a target page for a QR code and email links. A number of tracking systems were implemented to monitor and evaluate traffic to the target site. In 6 weeks there were over 3,200 page views by over 700 unique visitors.

Most new smartphones will have this software included. Finding the correct software for devices can be tricky and experience suggests that installing and testing several different software packages may be needed.
A google search or manufacturers advice should generate suggestions, alternatively Mobile-Barcodes.com list software information for many device manufacturers. For this and extensive information on QR codes, visit their site here
